Update and June Favorites

Hello friends, I feel like I have been gone for so long. My last favorites post and movie review I did was in January (GEEZ) not counting the one I just posted the other day. I have had quite a lot of ups and downs recently, with my family, my mother’s health and my own health as well. For months, no one could diagnose what my mom had, they thought it was so many different things (scary things), saw so many doctors, had so many tests, was on disability and finally as of last week found out what she has and they can treat her (thank goodness). Going through that with her has left me really stressed out. I am okay too, I have had some issues that I am trying to get resolved and finally getting what I need to get better (woo hoo) as of last week. I have had zero energy to do much other go to work and come home and do the same thing all over again. I am finally starting to get back on the horse and get back to watching movies and doing what I love on here. But life happens and things are getting better and I am thankful for that. Ok that was pretty personal, but I wanted to share it because I know you guys won’t judge me.

Well I have still been watching my shows and wanted to share with you my favorites. Also, I’ll be going to Comic Con next week and I will be posting about my adventures and sharing some fun photos.

And here’s a picture of a cute puppy because he’s just too cute not to share.

Wayward Pines: Season 1 (Fox)

Wayward Pines stars Matt Dillon and yes he’s back! I feel like I haven’t seen him in anything for years, so it’s good to see him back in action. The show centers around Dillon as Ethan Burke,  a secret service agent who has gone to look for two missing agents. He gets in a car accident and awakens in a small town. He remembers nothing and doesn’t know how he got there. When he asks the nurse at the hospital for a phone, he is denied. It’s like they know something he doesn’t and they will not let him in on the secret. On the outside the town of Wayward Pines looks idyllic, like a perfect town in a movie, everyone is happy and helpful towards Ethan, so much that it seems strange. He runs into one of the agents, his former mistress Kate (Carla Gugino) and partner at work, she acts like nothing ever happened and goes along with her business. He comes to find out that he cannot leave, when he tries, he just goes in circles. He knows something sinister is going on and he aims to find out. The show starts out really fun, towards the end it got kinda slow, but it has picked up. If you are in the mood for a mystery, this is a good show to watch.

Hannibal: Season 3 (NBC)

Ugh, I just love Hannibal, I don’t know what it is about this show, but every season leaves me wanting more. The first season had episode titles with French dishes, the second with Japanese and this season brings fine, Italian dishes. I won’t give too much spoilers. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) is now in Italy with Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) feigning to be a prominent Italian couple, one who are educated in art and literature. Of course Hannibal can pull that off without blinking. On the hunt for Hannibal is Will Graham (Hugh Darcy) and Abigail Hobbs (Kacey Rohl) back from the horrific incident that happened last season. The show has really heated up and is always delicious to watch. By the way did you hear the rumors that they are cancelling the show?!!! #savehannibal

Orange is the New Black: Season 3 (Netflix)

It just came out last week and I already finished it. I have to admit I don’t think it was OMG one of my favorite things to watch this month, but it was interesting. I feel like some of the stuff they put in the show is just superfluous and Piper’s (Taylor Schilling) story has really gone down hill. I honestly enjoy it to see the back stories of many of the inmates. I like seeing how they grew up as kids and what they did to get put in jail. I did not like the whole story of Norma (Annie Golden) and how they portrayed her like she was a spiritual guru who could heal people (that was just dumb). I did like the new girl on the show Stella (Ruby Rose), she’s pretty with tons of tattoos and totally looks like a hot lesbian. She fits in with the idea of the show. I also like the addition of Lori Petty as an inmate. She plays a good weirdo. Remember when she was totally the it girl in the 90’s?

I liked that they went a little deeper with Tiffany Doggett’s (Taryn Manning) storyline, which had more depth to it then some of the other ones. I wish they would up the violence and grittiness of prison life, instead it makes prison look like a fun camp. You get to hang out with friends, get an easy job, make a few phone calls, flirt with cute guards and just hang out. Anyone else agree that Litchfield prison does not look like a hard time at all?

If you watch it, you should really play this drinking game. I bet you will get very drunk!
